Not swallowing camels.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain a gnat but swallow a whole camel.”
Mathew 23:23-24
The woes Jesus directs to the Pharisees gives me the shivers especially because I think I have done and still do a lot of what the Pharisees did then. You know things like focusing so much on the outside of cup instead of the inside or worrying more about what goes into the mouth than what gets out or desiring the titles and privileges instead of practising servant leadership or fussing about paying tithe and giving offering while leaving out the meat of it which is justice, mercy and faithfulness. I think it is a journey and now that grace abounds even more, an end result of His resurrection, I won’t be too hard on myself but oh God I want to do it right for you.
Today it starts with ending the hypocrisy, here’s to straining gnats and not swallowing camels!
